Healthy Coupon Savings: Myth or Reality

I know there is a myth about healthy food and savings…that it can’t be done. I would beg to differ. You do have to look more and work harder (or just read and react when TCH finds the best coupons) but it is possible to save money on healthy food, as noted in the picture above…

FREE:  Two gallons of skim milk – had two coupons from the Facebook Milk Mustache coupon promotion.

FREE:  Six four-packs of Activia yogurt – had the printable manufacturer coupon stacked with the Target printable coupon.

FREE:  One bag of Publix salad – $2.00 off produce coupon when you spend $5.00 (spoke with the manager and he read it to be spend $5.00 on anything, get $2.00 off Publix produce).

FREE:   Fresh strawberries – $2.00 off produce coupon when you spend $5.00 (second print of the above coupon).

B1G1:  Two loaves of whole wheat bread – Weekly promotion from Publix

FREE:  Chicken – Had a $5/$50 coupon from local store competitor and there was a $1.00/1 coupon wyb the Kraft product (which is free right now at Publix with the matchup posted here).

So…is it a myth or reality that you can get healthy items for free?  I’ll admit that it is harder and doesn’t happen as often, but if you hit things the right time with the right promotions and the right coupon stack…you can do what I did above, which was essentially pull everything you see in the picture out of the store for roughly a dollar OOP.
